Analysis of structures by microscope has long been an important part of any research,

 development, quality control or  failure analysis of solid materials.

 Traditionally this technique has been used in the metals sector and for petrography, 

but it is increasingly being used also within electronics, semiconductors, ceramics,

reinforced materials and other man-made composites as well as certain biological

 materials. In addition, the technique is widely used in special sectors like archeology, 

forensic work, zoology, paint, plastics and coatings and several others.

The result of the analysis is depending on the actual sample and it's preparation, and unlike most other tests, the sample 

preparation for microscopic analysis is not standardized. In fact,

 most literature describe the need for scratch free and shiny surfaces and forget that modern materials may suffer from many 

other types of artifacts from the preparation that will change the image of the structure. 

Neglecting these facts and believing that "as long as there are no scratches,

 the sample is good" will inevitably lead to misinterpretations and lack of information from the work done.

 More and more laboratories are getting aware of this and thus it is evident that we try to arrange training sessions where 

the knowledge we have gained through over 65 years in this business can be passed on to others.

We cannot do this alone and thus we have found relevant partner institutions with whom we arrange various events-

 partly based on standard programs, which we have developed, partly on requests from our users.
